- Education Award (This award can be used to help pay of existing education
loans or tuition. While you are an AmeriCorps members, you are eligible
for deferment on current student loans.
Full-time members serve for a minimum of 1700 hours.
- Stipend $11,100

Half-time members serve for a minimum of 900 hours.
- Stipend $5,550

What We Do
- Provide an environment where children can grow.
- Provide direct care (toileting, feeding, diaper changing, transfers,
etc.) for children and adults with disabilities.
- Complete performance measures in social skills development with participants.
- Recruit, train and supervise volunteers.
- Model and participate in all Arts for All activities and classes. Assist
with accountability and accessibility for participants.
- Assist in the development and implementation of schedules and opportunities
for children and/or adults to gain independence, self help and social skills,
make quality use of leisure time and meet their objectives in academic
and behavioral areas with emphasis on the Arts.
- Assist in assuring that all contract and license requirements (DES/DDD,
DES/Child Licensure, etc.) are being met including writing objectives,
lesson plans, data collection, monthly, incident and physical management
reporting, etc.
Requirements
- Be a U.S. citizen or U.S. national or a lawful permanent resident alien
of the United States.
- Be at least 17 years old (or at least 16 years of age if the member is
out school and a participant in a youth corps or a program for certain
disadvantaged individuals).
- High school diploma or GED or agree to obtain one while serving.
- Documentation of Fingerprint Clearance card must be provided within 60
days.
- Ability to demonstrate good observation skills, judgment and interest
in learning.
- Good verbal and written communication skills; billingual preferred.
- Must provide current certification in CPR, First Aid, CIT I and II, and
Article IX within 60 days.
- Participate and provide documentation for a minimum of 40 education hours
during service year.
